During the last several years a number of non-governmental organizations,
working in different fields, were established in Georgia. Despite the difficult
economic and social situation in the country, these organizations have not
only survived but with high enthusiasm and energy, they have begun to become
more successful and influential. It's clear that the new-born Georgian NGOs
will proceed with their activities and will create a real sector of NGOs in Georgia.
In March 1995, the ITIC was established as a non-governmental, not-for-profit
organization dedicated to helping address the problems facing the non-governmental
sector by providing technical and communications assistance, giving free access
to information resources to entire NGO community. As more funding opportunities
for the non-profit sector enter the country, it's very critical that those NGOs with
the greatest ability and desire to utilize information have access to such information.
