From May1, 1998 ITIC has started new project "Civic Networking"
financed by Winston Foundation for World Peace, which envisioned
spreading of ITIC's activities in the regions of Georgia through
establishment of regional partnership network of independent NGO
resource centers and conducting of three-fourday free workshops in the
following regional cities: Telavi, Rustavi, Gori, Khashuri, Kutaisi,
Zugdidi, Akhaltsikhe, Batumi.
Main point of workshops is organizational development of NGOs and
basics of activities of information center. Workshops cover the topics
on information management, including usage of e-mail and Internet,
creation and publication of databases, desktop publishing systems and
other electronic publications, such as web-publishing (simple HTML
page design and creation).
At the same time we have updated information in regional NGO
database of ITIC and conducted survey on information and training
demands in the regions.
Workshops were attended by the represenatives of regional NGO
groups, scientific institutions, library workers, local government and
youth organizations and some representatives of small business (banks,
mass-media and information centers).
Main outcome of this project will be bringing all three sectors of society
to closer cooperation through intensive contacts and information
exchange which will promote democratic processes and establishment
of civil society in Georgia.
