Mother-Child Nutrition
and Wellness Association - "CLARITAS" was officially founded as non-profit,
non-gavermental organization on April 24,1997. The aim of the foundation
was impruvement of mother-child health state in Georgia by increasing breastfeeding
rate and duration, protecting the rights of mother with regulation of marketing
of brestmilk substitutes.
"CLARITAS" is an
IBFAN (International Baby food action network) affiliated group in Georgia.
The
IBFAN was prized "The Right
Livelifood Award" (RLA) alternative of "Nobel prize" for its committed
and effective campaigning for the rights of mothers to choose to brestfeed
their babies, in the full knowledge of the benefits of breastmilk and free
from comercialpressure from baby food companies. It was result of high
activities of IBFAN groupes from different countries, includin "CLARITAS".
