The International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes 
 
  • - the state program on artificial feedingproducts controlled use was elaborated on the base of Decree #1 (2. 01. 1997) of the president of georgia on “Creation of Infant Feeding Controlled System”; 
  • - medical staff is trained on “The Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes” along with the teaching course of breastfeeding; 
  • - “The International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes” has been translated, published and distributed in health care facilities and all relating structures; 
  • - booklet "Child Health Care" about provisions of The Code has been translated, published and distributed; 
  • - The Code recommendations were surveyed for wide masses of population by press (10 articles), radio (3 programs) and television (4 programs); 
  • - The Code monitoring according to The European Monitoring Project was held in 8 regions of Georgia by assistance of IBFAN and leadership of WEMOS. The report of the monitoring was selected as one of the best and represented to The World Health Assembly; 
  • - The Standard of Infant Formula #1 was elaborated and approved for the first time; 
  • - two NGOs - "CLARITAS" and "Society of Bioethics and Health Regulations" elaborated The Model Law on The Code - "Support and Promotion of Breastfeeding", that was approved on the government session and will soon be represented to the parliament for ratification. The Model Law was made for realization of The Decree #1 of the president of Georgia on January 1, 1997; 
  • - Georgia was marked on the world map of The Code implementation along with the developed countries, that successfully establish and realize The Code; 
  • - importance of The Code implementation for child health care has got serious recognition, that is emphasized by awarding IBFAN (that is represented by "Claritas" in Georgia) Alternative Nobel Prize - "Right Livelyhood Award". 
         Nowadays "CLARITAS" is the only non-governmental organization, provided with all the neccessary means ( equipment, high qualified trainers, working experience, international relations and recognition) for successful accomplishment of realization of three directions of breastfeeding and as well as IMCI programs in Georgia.
