Lactation Management with CDD/ARI Integration 
 
  •  2 100 health workers have been trained on lactation management and CDD/ARI for today: 
  •  informational literature on breastfeeding and CDD/ARI has been elaborated, printed and  distributed among health care staff and parents:
    1. “Wonder of  Breastfeeding” (leaflet);  
    2. “Diagram of Child weight and growth monitoring” (leaflet);  
    3. “Child Healthy Nutrition” (booklet);  
    4. "Main Principles of Child Health Supervision” (guideline);  
    5. "Treatment of patient Suffered from Diarrhea” (booklet);  
    6. "Diagnostics and Treatment of Acute Respiratory Infection in Childhood"(booklet); 
  •  The World Breastfeeding Week has already been celebrated three times in Georgia; 
  •  2 835 respondents (387 person in 1997 ; 1620 and 828 - in Tbilisi and Kutaisi correspondingly in 1998) have been consulted by free of charge telephone consultations. The foliation of "CLARITAS" was opened in 1998 in Kutaisi, where the same service as performed; 
  •  12 - 14 informational articles  on lactation management were published annually, 30 TV and radio programs were prepared; Estimation of breastfeeding, privately exclusive breastfeeding frequency rate in different regions of Georgia showed intensive growth of exclusive breastfeeding rate in 1 month old infants (65%); less intensively is increases breastfeeding rate in 2 - 3 month old infants (31% - 14% correspondingly); 
        Data given by CDD/ARI monitoring:    
  •  morbidity of 0 - 2 month old infants was caused by ARI in 30% and by DD in 15% of cases in 1996. ARI and DD caused 10% and 15% (correspondingly) of mortality in 1997.
