1.       funded by the german organisation diakonisches werk:

A)      1993 - kf-27/24 “the project for assistance to farmers

”pilot project  for 3 months

b)    kf-o17/95geo “the project for assistance to farmers”

                assist needed farmers

                Project budget: 150 000 US $

financial assistance was given to 40 farmers who converted their farms into organic and during 10 years they pay back the received  sum or relevant amount of yeilds as a charity for needed families or organisations. 

 

        c)    1994-1995 kf-028/94 –“promotion of organic farming development in georgia”

                help the  development of organic farming in georgia (duration 18 months)

in the framework of this project an extension service was organised for farmers interested to manage their farms in organic way.

2.       1994-1995 “publishing of a journal “biofarmer” and issues on biofarming”, funded by ISAR-georgia

Pubish and soread material on organic farming

Project budget: 2 800 US $

journal “biofarming” is issued regularly twice an year and several brochures on organic farming are published.

 

3.       1995-1996 in the framework of tacis rogramme eu funded development of a model organic farm in akhmeta. foe was a mediatory organisation.

Project budget: 150 000 ECU

the experimental-demonstrative biofarm “biome-96” was created in the villige khodasheni, akhmeta region, however as far as the policy of the organisation has changed, now it is decided to organise demonstration plots in different member farms (this appeared to be more cost-effective).

 

4.       1996 – isar-georgia funded the series of workshops on biofarming in 4 regions of western georgia

propagete organic farming principles in western georgia

seminars were held in tskaltubo, senaki, ozurgeti and helvachauri. many farmers from western georgia became members of our organisation after that seminars. a group of farmers from tskaltubo region are already so active that we plan to open a regional office in tskaltubo.

 

5.       1996 “elkana-internet” – funded by the open society – georgian foundation.

to enable free access to internet

Project budget: 3 000 US $

a computer, modem and ups were bought and from the summer 1997 till the february 1999 our organisation had free access to internet. since the february 1999 we signed a contract with local supplier sanet in order to provide access to internet for our organisation. “Elkana” contacts with foreign organisations has enhanced.

 

6.       1996-1998 “promotion of organic farming and sustainable rural development in georgia” – financed by the german organisation “misereor”

propagate organic farming and stimulate self-help processes among the rural population.

Project budget: 600 000 DEM

 

amount of member farmers has increased from 9 members to more than one hundred. succesfull small projects were developed in some villages of georgia.
