organic farming in georgia (duration 18 months)
in
the framework of this project an extension service was organised for farmers
interested to manage their farms in organic way.

experimental-demonstrative biofarm “biome-96” was created in the villige
khodasheni, akhmeta region, however as far as the policy of the organisation has
changed, now it is decided to organise demonstration plots in different member
farms (this appeared to be more cost-effective).

biofarming in 4 regions of western georgia

seminars
were held in tskaltubo, senaki, ozurgeti and helvachauri. many farmers from
western georgia became members of our organisation after that seminars. a group
of farmers from tskaltubo region are already so active that we plan to open a
regional office in tskaltubo.

1996 “elkana-internet” – funded by the open society
– georgian foundation.

a
computer, modem and ups were bought and from the summer 1997 till the february
1999 our organisation had free access to internet. since the february 1999 we
signed a contract with local supplier sanet in order to provide access to
internet for our organisation. “Elkana” contacts with foreign organisations
has enhanced.

1996-1998 “promotion of organic farming and sustainable
rural development in georgia” – financed by the german organisation
“misereor”
propagate
organic farming and stimulate self-help processes among the rural population.
