Together with governmental organizations develops  national conceptions  and programs  in  medical  informatics and biomedical engineering.
Promotes the developments of scientific ideas and technical solutions through non-formal contacts between health specialists and specialists of other branches and industry.
Promotes fundamental researches in basic domains of medical informatics.
Promotes the developments and construction of various categories of information systems and technical devices using modern information technologies, as well as their production and  implementation:
- nation- and regionwide health information systems;
- integrated information systems of healthfacilities;
- systems of diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of patients;
- systems of sanitary-epidemiological surveillance and other environmental information       systems;
- information systems in medical science;
- systems of training and education of physicians, nurses and other health specialists;
- equipment and devices intended for the use in health and medicine.
Founds working groups, groups of special interest, etc., and facilities their activities.
Provides phisicians with modern scientific and technical information through  seminars,  conferences,  symposia,  information  bullettins, etc.
Organizes tutorials and  other forms of  education in  medical  informatics  and  biomedical  engineering together with corresponding departments of medical high schools.
Supports scientific tours and attendance at seminars, conferences, symposia, etc., inside and outside the country, held around the problems of medical informatics and biomedical engineering.
Establishes contacts with foreign scientists and technical specialists as well as associations and societies in medical informatics of other countries (AMIA, GMDS,  et.al.) in order to exchange modern ideas and organize joint researches.
Represents Georgia in IMIA, EFMI and other international organisations  and societies and takes part in their activities.
Undertakes studies of marketing problems concerning information  systems and biomedical  devices, communicates with vendors, takes part in exhibitions, advertisings, licensings, purchasings,  sellings of know-how, etc.
Dessimenates through mass media  among the population of the country the information  about the achievments and problems of medical informatics and  biomedical  engineering.
