6 June 1996 the Georgian Neuroscience Association was established as a
successor of to the Section of Neurophysiology of the Beritashvili Physiological
Society of Georgia (founded 60 years ago). At the same time it became a
Corporate Member of IBRO, with whom links go back over 30 years when Ivane
Beritashvili and Herbert Jasper were among the pioneers behind the concept
of independent international organization dedicated to the promotion of
neuroscience and of communication between brain researchers in all countries
of the world".
