The GENESIS Association pays special attention to the orphanages and shelters for the street children. Since it’s foundation GENESIS provides free of charge medical service to these institutions.

The GENESIS Association helps the Bodbe Orphanage

With the initiative and support of the GENESIS Association the following charity activities have been conducted for the Auxiliary School-Orphanage in the village Bodbe in 2000-2001.

Medical examinations on site have been done to 43 orphans by a teem of qualified medical professionals from the leading clinics of Tbilisi– Orthopedist, Cardiologist, Pediatrician, Neurologist, Endocrinologist, Dermatologist, Ophthalmologist and medical laboratory specialist.

20 children having different health problems have been taken to Tbilisi. The investigations have been conducted at: The State Medical University Clinic of Pediatrics to 11 children, The Institute of Neurology and Neuosuregry to 2 children, The Institute of Traumathology and Orthopedics to 1 children, The Institute of Skin diseases and Venerology to 5 children, children’s Endocrinology department of The City hospital #1 to 1 child, The Institute of Reproductology to 1 child.

Together with the staff members of the Institute of Venerology and Skin Diseases a follow-up onsite consultation organized. 48 orphans and 12 teachers have been investigated during this site visit.

3 surgical operations have been conducted (2 Inguinal Hernia and 1 inguinal hernia + Cryptorchism) at the Tbilisi State Medical University Pediatric Clinic (Professor Davitaia and Docent Chkhartishvili)

The GENESIS Association helps the Akhalgori Orphanage

The GENESIS Association helps the Akhalgori Orphanage to improve living conditions of children and solve their healthcare problems since 1998. In 2000-2001 several charity activities were conducted by the Association:

Qualified medical experts from the leading clinics of Tbilisi - Orthopedist, Cardiologist, Pediatrician, Neurologist, Endocrinologist, and a medical laboratory specialist - have been invited and on – site medical investigations have been conducted for 70 children living in the Orphanage.

30 children having various health problems have been taken to Tbilisi for the farther investigations and treatment. The investigations have been done to 16 children at The State Medical University Clinic of Pediatrics, to 2 children at The Railway Hospital #2, to 3 children at The Institute of Neurology and Neuosuregry, to 9 children at The Institute of Traumathology and Orthopedics and to 2 children at the Children’s endocrinology department of The City Clinical Hospital #1.

The training concerning First and Emergency assistance has been carried out for the personnel, teachers and teenagers of the Orphanage.

The invited Orthopedist has carried the methodological training course for the medical staff and physical excercises instructors of the Orphanage. It has been decided to replace ordinary physical training classes for 20 children with the rehabilitation/preventive exercises.

By the help of the Tbilisi Orthopedic Center (International Committee of Red Cross) orthopedic footwear for correction of foot deformations have been manufactured for 9 orphans.

5 surgical operations have been organized and conducted (1 Inguinal Hernia, 1 operation: inguinal hernia + Cryptorchism, 3 tonsillectomy) at Tbilisi State Medical University Pediatric Clinic. These surgeries were conducted by Professor Davitaia, Docent Chkartishvili, Surgeon and Otolaringologist Lomaia.

One child with a Scleroderma was treated in the department of Cardio-Rheumathology of the Pediatric Clinic of Tbilisi State Medical University.

The GENESIS Association provided all necessary medicines for follow-up treatment of the Orphanages.

The GENESIS Association provides medicines to the Bodbe and Akhalgori orphanages on the regular bases. These charity activities are funded by the German organization “Diakonie Emergency Aid”.

Projects for the Kaspi Orphanage.

The GENESIS Association implemented two projects for the Kaspi orphanage.

1) Medical assistance to the orphans with Epilepsy

Based on the medical examinations conducted on site 15 orphans diseased with epilepsy were revealed. These children were transported to Tbilisi, where Epilepsy specialist, Professor Virsaladze conducted consultations and examinations (E.E.G). The relevant prescriptions have been given to each child. The Genesis Association supplied the children with necessary medicines for two years. GENESIS conducts regular investigations and consultations for the effective treatment of the children. 2) Medical assistance to the orphans with orthopedic problems.

Medical consultations and examinations were conducted on site and the orphans with orthopedic problems were selected. Limb prosthesis were constructed for those children with the support of the International Committee of Red Cross and the Institute of Traumathology and Orthopedy. Notwithstanding of the assistance provided by the GENESIS Association and individual donors, the Bodbe Orphanage, the Akhalgory Orphanage and the Kaspi have a lot of financial domestic, food and educational problems. These problems need to be solved immediately to improve the living conditions of the orphans and often to save their lives.

Free consultation days for the large families

On October 29-30, 2001 and November 1-9, 2001 The GENESIS Association conducted prophylactic - diagnostic consultations for the families with many children of Didube district.

Based on its own in formation and the information from the Ministry of the Social Provision the GENESIS Association elaborated the list of the large families (with 4 and more children) living in Didube district.

16 families were invited to the GENESIS clinic and 9 of them came to the consultations of the Cardiologist, Orthopedist, Pediatrician, Surgeon, Endocrinologist and GP. Also laboratory investigations, ultrasound and EKG have been done to the members of these families. Total 53 patients were investigated and consulted at the GENESIS clinic, among them 31 children 0-14 years old.

Charity consultations for the children with bone-joint pathologies from Didube district

On November 2, 2001 the GENESIS Association organized charity event for the children living in Didube district of Tbilisi. In the frame of this event invited specialists from the Research Institute of Orthopedy, Rusiko Mchedlishvili, Traumathogist and Lali Jojua, Pediatrician read the lecture for mothers on the following subjects: "Rickets" and "Bone-Joint Deformations in Childhood". The aim of this lecture was to give the information on prevention and management of these pathologies in children.

The leaflets issued by the GENESIS Association concerning the above mentioned pathologies were given to all participants.

Orthopedic specialists examined 30 patient after the lecture.

On December 2001 the GENESIS Association conducted similar lectures and free of charge consultations at the GENESIS primary healthcare centers in the village Ortabatumi (Khelvachauri region) and the village Tamariani (Lagodekhi region). 37 patient were examined during these consultations.

The GENESIS Association assists shelter for the street children "Child and Environment"

On January 31, 2002 the GENESIS Association stuff members visited the street children's shelter "Child and Environment". The GENESIS Clinic surgeons examined 26 children. 5 of them, who need follow-up treatment will be investigated and treated at the GENESIS Clinic.

Children were explained that they can receive medical assistance at the GENESIS Clinic in any medical emergency case. Plastic cards with the contact information of the GENESIS Clinic were distributed to the children.

The GENESIS Association assists shelter for the street children "Satnoeba"

On March 26-27, 2002 the GENESIS Association held open consultations for the street children from the shelter "Satnoeba".

26 children were examined by the Pediatrician and the Surgeon of the GENESIS Clinic and various laboratory-instrumental investigations were done to them. On May 17, 2002 the GENESIS Association organized on-site charity visit to the shelter "Satnoeba". Consultations of surgeon, pediatrician, orthopedist, neurologist, TNY specialist, ophthalmologist, ultrasound and laboratory specialists were conducted for 45 children. 25 children were selected for the follow-up treatment and investigations.

On May 28-7, 2002 the follow-up treatment was conducted for 25 selected children:

To 6 children blood biochemical tests have been done. Minor surgical operations have been done to 3 children: 2 circumcision and 1 frenotomy.

8 children with vision pathologies were examined and consulted at the ophthalmology department of the Pediatric Clinic of the State Medical University. Psycho-neurologist and TNY specialist consulted 2 more children and x-ray investigations were done to them at the same Clinic.

Thyroid hormones in blood were investigated to one child at Tbilisi #1 Hospital

One child has been consulted by Epileptohologist at the Research Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery.

At the Tbilisi Orthopedic Center (International Red Cross) special footwear was designed for 4 children with the foot deformations.

The GENESIS Association purchased all necessary medicines for the treatment of the children.

The GENESIS Association assists street children shelter "The House of Future"

On March 29, 2002 the GENESIS Association organized free of charge consultations and investigations for the street children shelter "House of Future".

Children were consulted by the GENESIS Clinic pediatrician and the surgeon. Biochemical tests have been carried out to 10 children.

One child from the shelter with burn of the limbs has been treated for free of charge at the GENESIS Clinic in the period between April 5 and July 31, 2002.

The GENESIS Association assists Digomi Orphanage

On April 12, 2002 5 children from the Digomi orphanage were transported to the GENESIS Clinic. Consultations of pediatrician, surgeon, also laboratory tests and ultrasound investigations have been carried out.

Charity event for the population of Didube district, Tbilisi

On April 25, 2002 charity arrangement for the population having cardiac pathologies has been facilitated at the GENESIS clinic.

Invited cardiologist (form the Research Institute of Cardiology, CardioExpress) Malkhaz Gabisonia read a lecture concerning one of the most serious health problems - cardiovascular diseases.

The lecture has caused large interest of the population. Cardiologist answered many questions of the attendees concerning: Hypertonic disease, Angina pectoris, Atherosclerosis. The following brochures issued by the GENESIS Association were distributed to the population: "Cardiovascular diseases", "Atherosclerosis", "Angina pectoris", Hypertonic disease", "Nutrition/Diet for the patients with Hipertonic disease", "Nutrition instructions for the patients with Atherosclerosis".

During 3 days consultant cardiologist M. Gabisonia held consultations for 23 patients.

The GENESIS Association conducted similar lectures and free of charge consultations at the GENESIS primary healthcare centers in the village Ortabatumi (Khelvachauri region) and the village Tamariani (Lagodekhi region). 30 patient were examined during these consultations.
