The GENESIS Clinic - GENESIS has
set up of a Charity Clinic in the Didube district of Tbilisi.
The clinic is initially being supported by grants and donations,
but should gradually become self-financing with the capacity to provide
charitable medical care to selected street children’s shelters and orphanages
in Georgia from its own resources. The clinic’s space, which is owned by GENESIS,
has been repaired and the necessary medical equipment has already
been installed. The clinic started operating in October, 2001.
The GENESIS Association is looking for additional in-kind technical support to
complete the full equipping of the clinic, specifically
an UltraSound scanner;
a Gastro-Endoscope;
an Immuno-Chemical Analyser.
Medical Library
- GENESIS has a small medical library. Some of the books have
already been raised, but the most of them are not new. However, the GENESIS Association
is looking for additional supplies of textbooks and other medical publications.
Community Health Programme for the Impoverished population of Georgia -
The programme's main objective is to improve the quality of life for the poor communities of Georgia by raising
their access to basic healthcare education and to basic primary healthcare services.
The other objectives of the programme:
Setting-up three community oriented Primary Healthcare Centres which will provide both basic
healthcare education and practical medical support to the poor communities of the targeted
regions. The centres are planned to develop operational self-reliability by
mobilising the communities for finding the most suitable to them solutions to sustainability of the Healthcare centres.
The PHCs will also increase the access of the poor population to the specialised medical
consultations provided by consultant doctors visiting the PHCs periodically.
The outcomes of the programme are planned to be used for drafting concrete, pilot, non-governmental
models of PHCs. These models could be used for impacting a policy making process in the direction of
re-orientation and rationalisation of Primary Healthcare services in Georgia.
The GENESIS hopes that the activities carried out by this programme will contribute to the
attraction of other community mobilising and income-generating projects to the chosen regions,
resulting in a reduction of poverty of the targeted communities.
Medical Aid to Orphanages of Eastern Georgia/Health Rehabilitation Programmes -
GENESIS organises regular on-site diagnostic, consulting visits to the
orphanages of Georgia carried out by groups of consulting physicians. The visits
aim to assess the healthcare problems of the children. As a follow-up to these visits The GENESIS organises
neccessary medical investigations, hospitalisation and the surgical operations at different
clinics of Tbilisi. read more
